Prior to the World Cup, FIFA has updated their rankings. Brazil moves up one place to 3rd to overtake Portugal who’ve moved down to 4th. Colombia fell three spots from 5th to 8th. Argentina and Switzerland have both climbed two places into 5th and 6th respectively. England remain in 10th and the United States have moved up one spot to 13th. Costa Rica were big movers, moving up 6th places to 28th overall.

Sky Sports has tweeted that Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has been ruled out 10 days to 3 weeks for England.

He is a 37 year old striker that plays, in the Gibraltar Premier Division for Lincoln. Congratulations to him and his teammates, a thrilling day for them.

Algeria defeated Romania 2-1 as their run up to the World Cup continues. Nabil Bentaleb opened the scoring for Algeria in the 22nd minute, but Alexandru Chipciu equalized only 8 minutes later. El Arbi Soudani then scored in the 66th to give them the win.

Tamas Priskin’s penalty conversion gave Hungary a 1-0 win over Albania

The Netherlands took on a Wales side without Garth Bale and won 2-0 thanks to goals from Arjen Robben and Jeremain Lens.

In a surprising result, Italy only managed a 1-1 draw against Luxembourg. Claudio Marchisio opened scoring in the 9th minute after Mario Balotelli sent a cross onto his head. but Italy could not find again another despite Mario Ballotelli’s best efforts. Maxine Chanot got on the end of a corner kick and headed home the equalizer in the 85th.

Ecuador and England played in to a 2-2 draw in Miami yesterday. Enner Valencia opened scoring in the 8th minute after climbing above the England defense. Wayne Rooney then equalized after what may have been a hand ball by Rickie Lambert. Rickie Lambert then capped off a fantastic run through the Ecuadorian defense before passing to Lambert who finished with the outside of the foot. In the 70th minute Michael Arroyo unleashed a furious strike which found the back of the net to level the score. Raheem Sterling and Antonio Valencia were then both sent off after a questionable tackle by Sterling and an overblown response from Valencia.

Iceland defeated Estonia 1-0 because of Kolbeinn Sigthorssonn

Argentina managed a 3-0 win over Trinidad & Tobago, whose players bowed down to Lionel Messi in the warmups. The Messiah did not get on the scoresheet, goals from Rodrigo Palacio, Javier Mascherano, and Maxi Rodriguez

Christian Stuani and Edison Cavani scored in Uruguay’s 2-0 win over Slovenia.

Northern Ireland stood tough for over 75 minutes against Chile, but ultimately Alexis Sanchez drove Chile to victory with two assists giving his team the 2-0 win. He popped a ball over the top of the defense to Eduardo Vargas to open the scoring in the 79th. He then played an inch perfect through ball to Mauricio Pinilla for the second.

Didier Drogba scored the winning goal for C’ote D’Ivoire in their 2-1 win over El Salvador. Gervinho opened the scoring for Les Elephants in the 9th minute. Arturo Alvarez scored in the 75th from the penalty spot to make things interesting.
